Hi, I'm Andrea.
Like so many parents, my mornings are a whirlwind of packing lunches, finding missing shoes, and getting everyone out the door. I wanted to make the best choices I could for my family—but every stainless steel lunchbox I tried was heavy, leaked, or simply wasn't designed for real life with kids.
I knew there had to be a better way.
At the same time, I couldn't stop asking myself one simple question:
What kind of world are we leaving our children?
That question became the heart of Ocean Rise.
I set out to create a lunchbox that families could rely on—made from premium food-grade stainless steel, built to last for years instead of being replaced by disposable plastic. A lunchbox that makes everyday life a little easier while helping reduce unnecessary waste.
But Ocean Rise has always been about more than lunchboxes.
It's about raising children who love and respect our oceans, supporting ocean conservation, and believing that every family has the power to make a difference.
Because even the smallest everyday choices can create waves of change.
Every day, millions of plastic lunch containers are packed, used, and eventually thrown away. As a mom, I couldn't stop thinking about the small choices we make every day—and how those choices shape the future our children will inherit.

The Question That Started Ocean Rise
Ocean Rise began with one simple question from a little boy.
One afternoon, my five-year-old son looked at a photo of a sea turtle surrounded by plastic and asked me:
"Mom... why are sea turtles, whales, and polar bears eating plastic?"
I didn't know how to answer.
The truth is...
They aren't trying to eat plastic.
They mistake it for food.
That simple conversation stayed with me long after it ended.
As parents, we all want to believe we're leaving the world a little better for our children. But in that moment, I realized our children are growing up facing challenges that many of us never imagined.
Our oceans are becoming increasingly polluted with plastic, and it's affecting the incredible animals our kids love most.
That question became impossible to ignore.
Before Ocean Rise...
Years before that conversation, my son entered the world much earlier than expected as a micro-preemie.
Later, I learned that microplastics had been found in my placenta.
While scientists are still studying what effects microplastics may have on pregnancy and children's health, that discovery changed how I looked at the products my family used every day.
It made me realize that even small choices matter.
Small Choices Create Big Waves
I couldn't solve ocean pollution overnight.
But I could start making better choices for my own family.
And maybe...
If enough families did the same...
Those small choices could grow into something much bigger.
That's how Ocean Rise was born.

This is my son, he is now 5.
